Photo & Digital 2005

New :d-lab.1s starter - d-lab print quality and versatility at entry level price

Istanbul, April 2005 - AgfaPhoto is extending its range of digital minilabs and showing at Photo & Digital for the first time in Turkey the new d-lab.1s starter, which is based on the technology of d-lab.1. The new compact machine with one paper magazine offers d-lab print quality and versatility at an entry level price. It is upgradable to the full d-lab.1 print capacity of up to 900 prints per hour in 10 cm x 15 cm (4" x 6") format. This makes the "starter" version the ideal unit for the entry to the digital print business. In the standard version of the equipment AgfaPhoto has also left out certain features of the "allrounder" model which are not required in all markets. This has a favourable impact on the purchase costs. The market launch of the "starter" version is scheduled for May 2005.

Special features
On-board input of digital image files is possible, as with d-lab.1s basic. In terms of operation, purchasers have a choice between the combination of a CRT screen and a mouse on the one hand, and an LCD touchscreen on the other hand.

If a second paper magazine is desired, a supplementary unit can be fitted. In this way the machine grows with the business, creating the freedom to make additional investments at the right time thanks to its modular design. The sorter has capacity for three orders and can also handle a maximum format of 20 cm x 30 cm (8" x 12"). Just like its sister models, the "starter" version of the machine takes up little space: it has a footprint of only 1.3 m².

Operators of d-lab.1s starter who would like to offer prints from APS film can place a separate order for the necessary accessories, the APS film carrier and cartridge feeder. The unique automatic red-eye correction (a-REDC) is an optional feature.

Simple handling with high print quality and a variety of products
Operators of a d-lab.1s starter also enjoy the benefits of the well-known and proven d-lab.1. Alongside its first-class print quality, the simple handling deserves special mention. AgfaPhoto's proprietary image correction system d-TFS automatically ensures an excellent rate of first-run prints averaging over 95 percent. The MDDM exposure technology prints the optimized image data onto photo paper for an extremely sharp result. Moreover the new minilab makes it possible to offer a wide range of products, including digital print order - via Agfanet e-commerce services, for example - and photo CDs as well as passport photos and formats up to 20 cm x 30 cm (8" x 12"). Last and by no means least, the open architecture permits alterations and performance extensions as needed.
