AgfaPhoto launches storage media for digital cameras

Istanbul, April 2005 - AgfaPhoto, Europe's leading imaging company, will in future additionally participate in the boom in digital photography by offering memory cards for digital cameras (Flash Memory Cards). The company, which has already been a leading vendor of digital lab equipment for years, is thus expanding its future-oriented product policy to include the field of digital capturing. As in the photo sector as a whole, when it comes to memory cards, AgfaPhoto again focuses on the emotional aspect of photography as the benefit for the consumer, thereby standing out from the technology-oriented marketing concepts customary on the market.

AgfaPhoto calls its memory cards "Digital Film". This not only reflects one of AgfaPhoto´s core competences, but also conveys the function of the cards to the consumer in simple words. In this way, AgfaPhoto overcomes the technology-related inhibitions sometimes associated with such products.

At the same time, it becomes clear that Digital Film is also a storage medium that offers the user particularly great and lasting pleasure when the picture is ultimately printed on photo paper.

Since photokina AgfaPhoto's Digital Film has been available as an assortment of the most commonly used types of memory card.

The range includes not only the most widespread cards, the super-fast and robust Secure Digital Card and the Compact Flash Card, but also MultiMediaCard, Memory Stick and SmartMedia Card types. Depending on card type, these products are available with memory capacities of 64 MB to 1 GB. The offering is rounded off by the AgfaPhoto USB Stick 2.0.

AgfaPhoto offers only top-quality leading-edge technology in the digital film sector. That means long service life, low power consumption and fast to ultra- fast write and read access.

The new memory cards are compatible with all common digital cameras, and also with other devices, such as hand-held PCs or digital camcorders.

AgfaPhoto will be presenting the memory cards in a unique, pictorial design, based on analogue film and the underlying AgfaPhoto concept of "Pictures of Happiness". A colour code will make it easier to distinguish between the different types of card. For instance, blue will stand for the SD Cards and green for the CF Cards.

In this way, imaging specialist AgfaPhoto will be offering a complete range of image capturing media under the umbrella of the strong brand: from classical film and single-use cameras (SUCs), all the way to Digital Film.
